Bear Paw Quilts and More, ”your friendly quilting den in the mountains,” is located in the beautiful Sierra foothill community of Oakhurst, just 15 miles from the south gate of Yosemite National Park.

How we got started:
Bonnie and Donna, with more than 35 years of combined quilting experience, saw the need for a fabric shop to better serve the quilting community.

In 1999, Bear Paw Quilts and More officially opened for business. The word spread of the new business in town and that it no longer necessary to travel to the valley for quilt supplies. The business started to grow and in about five years we were literally bulging at the seams. We were steadily adding to our inventory and there was a need for a larger classroom area to accommodate quilters of all experience levels.

We settled into our present location in 2004. The front of the store handles most of our fabric bolts, patterns, books and special project materials. The back room has flannels, threads, notions, batting and such…with plenty of space left over for our classroom…complete with Bernina loaner sewing machines.

Pam is a recent addition to the team. After moving to the Coarsegold area, she was bitten by the quilting bug, started a longarm quilting business and was a regular at the shop. With a business background and a passion for quilting, she was given an opportunity to join the Bear Paw team in 2007.
